Role Responsibilities: What Will You Do?
This is an active, outdoor role. You won't be stuck behind a desk; you will be patrolling campus grounds on foot, bicycle, or in a vehicle. Your core duties include:
- Enforcement: You will enforce University Parking Rules by issuing warnings and citations for illegally parked vehicles.
- Patrol & Safety: You will patrol parking lots to provide assistance to students and visitors, and report suspicious activities or hazardous conditions (like broken lights or missing signs).
- Technology Use: You will operate parking enforcement hardware, police radios, and body cameras to document incidents.
- Assistance: You may be required to help push disabled vehicles to clear roadways and provide directions to the public.
Eligibility and Mandatory Requirements
JSU has strict eligibility rules for student employees. To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:
Mandatory Qualifications
- Student Status: You must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three (3) credit hours per semester.
- GPA: Returning students must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
- Driver's License: A valid Alabama driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
- Age & Background: Must be at least 18 years old with no felony convictions.
- Physical Fitness: The job requires walking for long hours, running, bending, and the physical strength to push automobiles if necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Majors in Criminal Justice or Emergency Management.
- Prior experience in security or law enforcement internships.
