Eligibility Criteria

This program has strict geographic and academic requirements. To qualify, you must meet the following:

• Geographic Location: You must be enrolled in an accredited graduate institution ONLY in California or New England (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island).
• Citizenship: Open only to U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, or DACA recipients.
• Master’s Students: Must have completed at least one semester/quarter of course work and be seeking the Master’s as their terminal degree. (Those planning to pursue a PhD immediately should wait).
• PhD Candidates: Must plan to have completed at least 3 years of doctoral work or passed qualifying exams by July 1, 2026.
• Focus: Your studies and career goals must be directed toward improving environmental quality.

Selection Priorities

Preference is given to: PhD candidates with a clear research and career focus. Individuals with professional work experience between their undergraduate and graduate studies.
